About us

Our story begins in Queretaro, the beautiful colonial city in the heart of Mexico. This is where we were born and where we discovered the true wonders of Mexican cuisine. Fast forward to 2014, when we begin our life in Edmonton. When we came here, we had one thing on our minds: to share our love and knowledge of Mexican food with you and all of Edmonton. So in 2017, we set out to do just that by starting our humble food stall at the popular Edmonton Downtown Farmer's Market, and it’s been a huge hit since then. It didn’t take long for us to get the message, Edmonton needs more of our tacos and quesadillas! So we’ve continued to expand since last year, participating at more farmer’s markets and events, like the Edmonton Folk Fest or the 124 Grand Market. Now, we feel it’s time for us to expand our horizons and bring our awesome food to you and everyone you know!

What’s our secret? It’s simple, really. We know and love Mexican food inside and out. We’ve tried the real thing, and we want you to try it too. Good food deserves the best ingredients, and we are commited to prepare our dishes with high quality ingredients, made locally, and using recipes and methods exactly as they are used and prepared in Mexico.

The Product

TACOS. You’ve heard of them, you’ve seen them, maybe you’ve tried them before too. But we’re not talking about the fake stuff, we give you the real deal, straight from the streets of Mexico. This is by far our most popular dish, and we’re not surprise. It starts with the right tortillas (corn, to be exact), made fresh right here in Edmonton. And it wouldn’t be a taco without the meat, so we offer ours with Pastor (grilled pork), Asada (grilled, juicy steak), Pibil (Yucatan-style chicken), and Barbacoa (slow-cooked beef). Not a fan of meat? We’ve got you covered. We prepare amazing vegetarian fillings as well, like our Papas (roasted potatoes) or Champis (grilled mushrooms).

It doesn’t end there. You might have heard of Quesadillas before. If you haven’t tried them, you’ll fall in love immediately once you do. It’s basically a large corn tortilla, which we carefully make by hand, filled with cheese and meat or vegetables. If you like that, you’ll probably also like our Gorditas, which are corn masa cakes stuffed with your choice of meat or vegetables too. And drinks? We have that too! We know there’s nothing better than Mexico’s beloved Jarritos, the classic soda bottles which come in a variety of fruity flavours.

It’s no wonder we love what we do. We believe the food we offer is special. It brings back the best of memories for us, and we hope you can discover how special it can be for you too. Which is why we make everything fresh, with the best local ingredients, like AAA grade Alberta beef. And obviously, it all comes to our recipes, the age-old traditions cultivated by our ancestors and passed down to use from closes relatives. We believe no matter who you are, you’re destined to fall in love with our food!

The Plan

Edmonton loves Mexican food, OUR Mexican food. First off, we want to thank you for making our business a success so far! We wouldn’t do this without the support of our fans and customers. You are now part of the Frida family. Now, we need your help! We want to bring Edmonton exactly what it loves by opening up a taco shop, with healthy food, prepared in real time, in a chic environment, all at a great price.

We have found the ideal location in the intersection between Stony Plain and 124 street, close to our dearest customers. We need your help to fund this project, we believe we can reach our goal together. The ATB Boostr program provides the perfect opportunity to do it, since we get to share our food with you for the support you give us. We believe in Edmonton because it’s made itself our home. Now, as part of our family, we want to bring you the Mexican food you deserve.
