Harvie Passage Slalom Course - Bow River
Whitewater Slalom combines the excitement of paddling a river, with the technical skill of navigating through poles hung over the river. Alberta has a long history of success in slalom including an Alberta born World Champion in 1999.
Harvie Passage slalom course is the opportunity that slalom kayaking been waiting for to: increase participation, visability, and performance! The facility will allow clubs to recruit more athletes. It will help clubs and businesses to teach more people general paddling skills and how to enjoy rivers safely. It will allow for an accessible and safe venue right in the heart of Calgary allowing for more people to learn about the sport of slalom. Athletes will be able to train more effectively, more often, giving them more chances to reach their goals.
The foundation of the slalom course is the anchors that the posts sit in, that the slalom poles are then hung from. The anchors need to go in the ground in the spring of 2017 while the site is being rebuilt.
